In writing academic literature, it is very common to propose an argument. This argument could be in the position of agreeing with other people statement or disagree with it.. Either way the basic idea in stating an argument is how to have your proposition to be accepted in term of academic and to show how it can be useful and practical in society. To convince the reader and give our argument a meaning, we could organize our argument by utilizing collocation such as: make reference to draw a distinction between raises important questions taking it into consideration argues convicingly and many other example. In stating an argument we usually use some of the collocations for a specific purpose. collocatiob such as  "draws an analogy" is usually used to makes a comparison between things which have similar features to explain or simplify complex idea.
